Happy Holiday Season
Pretty much no matter who you are or what you celebrate, the holiday season has started. For some of us it started in October 😉
We all handle the holidays differently. I go with low-stress and fun. I had my era of perfecting it and getting to all the friends and families, but I stopped that mumble-mumble years ago. And I love it. We all love it. We still see everyone, we just spread it out. Perfection is a leftover idea from the past. And it’s the imperfections we end up cherishing, is it not? Like...
the time the dog stole the turkey.
the year the oven was out so you went on a road trip and had Thanksgiving at a café by a lake.
the cat knocked over the Christmas tree, twice.
the Christmas you went to the beach because it was 90°F (32°C) and watched the sunset in Christmas t-shirts.
Top 10 Seasonal Joys
This got me thinking about things that make us happy. Not the big events, the little things that bring us joy. Here are my top ten little seasonal joys. In no particular order:
The leaves changing color
Pumpkin patches
Fresh hot apple cider bonus if it comes with apple cider donuts
Eating turkey mixed with mashed potatoes
The first snow
Christmas lights
Snuggling under warm blankets watching a late night movie or movie/tv show marathon (they are abundant this time of year)
People walking their dogs in sweaters
Beautiful sunrises and sunsets
Staying up late reading a good book – sure this is good any season but it’s even better during the holidays
By the way, did you know that catching a falling leaf is good luck? Now ya do!
