I’m happy to be in 2024. I have plans. Big plans. {insert evil laugh here} I made a list of goals, and I’m ready. I’ve already started on them. But I’ve done a bit of procrastinating.
Let’s deep dive into that and discuss the top ten reasons to procrastinate. 🙂
in no particular order
Watched a pilot of an old TV show and now you must watch all the episodes.
Read about mythological creatures that have nothing to do with what you’re writing about.
It’s cold, so you must make pizza, brownies, and hot chocolate from scratch.
You can’t find anything, so you must organize all the drawers everywhere in the house.
Friend wants to get together for the day. Friends are important. Spend the day out and the next day recovering from being out.
Write a to do list, including what you need to write and brainstorm about.
Plan a timeline.
Doodle witches and zombies to figure out what you want to draw next.
9Study book covers.
Agonize over writing a newsletter and what to put in it.
And in case you need to do a little procrastinating yourself, check out my blog post of 2024 Trends.
Procrastination plagues perfectionists. If they do nothing, then they can avoid mistakes. I know a lot about procrastination. Studying book covers is one of my favorite means for doing exactly that.
While I read your title and thought, I don't need a reason to procrastinate, just let me show you - lol - I love your list of reasons, especially the first, and then... well, okay, all of them. I re-organized some of my bookshelves today, and of course, had to reread a few chapters of a favorite book or two along the way.
